On July 11, 2025, Intuitive Surgical officially opened its first manufacturing facility in Bulgaria, located in the town of Parvomay. The architectural project was developed by IPA - Architecture and more.
A global leader in robot-assisted surgery and minimally invasive procedures, Intuitive Surgical selected the industrial zone of Parvomay for its new high-tech facility. The project is part of the company's long-term strategy to expand its European manufacturing capacity. Production at the facility includes optical components and 3D endoscopes used in da Vinci surgical systems.
The complex occupies a site of more than 150,000 sq m and has a gross floor area of 17,600 sq m. It includes manufacturing areas, an administrative building, and comprehensive engineering infrastructure.
The architectural design by IPA - Architecture and more follows the logic of the manufacturing process. Clearly defined yet visually and functionally connected volumes form a coherent composition and provide an effective working environment. In 2025, the manufacturing facility achieved LEED Gold certification. The complex represents a significant investment in Bulgaria's medical technology sector, combining advanced manufacturing, sustainable architecture, and a contemporary working environment.
