The interior design of UNICA restaurant, developed by IPA - Architecture and more, received First Prize at the Dibla Design Awards 2022 in the Public Interior – Restaurant category. The award was presented during an official ceremony held in Sofia on March 29, following an evaluation by an international jury of interior and product design professionals.
This is the second major recognition for UNICA. Earlier, the restaurant was named Best New Restaurant in Sofia for 2022 by GoGuide.
The restaurant has 105 seats and occupies the basement and two above-ground levels of a seven-story residential building on Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard with cultural heritage status. The kitchen is located below ground and serves the dining areas above, while the entrance level includes a curated retail display.
The interior is defined by sculptural timber elements that move through the space like vines. These elements integrate the lighting, contrast with the exposed concrete ceiling, and connect the different areas of the turquoise-toned interior.
