The interior design of UNICA Restaurant, developed by IPA - Architecture and more, won first prize at the Dibla Design Awards 2022 in the Public Interior - Restaurant category. The award was presented at an official ceremony in Sofia on March 29, 2023, following evaluation by an international jury of interior and product design professionals.
This is the second major recognition for UNICA. The restaurant had previously been named Best New Restaurant in Sofia for 2022 by GoGuide.
The restaurant offers 105 seats and occupies the basement and two above-ground levels of a seven-story residential building on Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard with cultural heritage status. The kitchen is located on the basement level and serves the dining areas above, while the entrance incorporates an area for displaying selected products.
A defining element of the interior design is the series of sculptural wood structures that extend through the spaces like vines. They integrate lighting, contrast with the exposed concrete ceiling, and connect the different areas of the turquoise interior into a unified composition.
