Demolition of the canopy of the Bulgarian Army Stadium has begun

18/04/2024

On April 18, 2024, at 10:18 a.m., the demolition of Stand A's canopy at the Bulgarian Army stadium commenced. Demolition activities are ongoing at full capacity. Representatives of IPA, Roster OOD, and CSKA Sofia FC have been updating the public on the project's progress and the set deadlines.

"We're operating within a three-month deadline to ensure minimal air pollution during the demolition process. We're proceeding slowly and steadily to achieve this goal. Currently, everything is on track, and we're familiar with all the underground facilities, tunnels, and connections in Stand A. Thankfully, we haven't encountered any unexpected challenges. Most of the materials will remain onsite, with our main focus being on removing reinforced concrete and waste. Preserving the trees is a priority for us", said eng. Yuksel Karaahmed, the chief manager of the site from Roster OOD.

"We are proud that less than a year after the initial project presentation, reconstruction is well underway and progressing rapidly. As we enter the final phase of the design process, the attention is being given to even the smallest details, ensuring that what we see here at the moment, this stadium, will evolve into a modern and impressive facility", said arch. Alexander Hadzhiev from IPA.

"There's no doubt that the stadium will be constructed; everything is progressing as planned. The process is underway and cannot be reversed. Presently, we're in the midst of discussing specific details, the only aspect open to modification. We have a finalized project in hand and are diligently working on selecting contractors, although it's proving to be a demanding task as we strive to secure the best possible offer", said Daniel Dimov, a member of the management board of Sports Properties Bulgarian Army.

Within a matter of days, the canopy will undergo complete demolition. It will be methodically taken apart, element by element, to mitigate any pollution of Borisova Garden park and minimize environmental impact.

A considerable portion of Stand G has already been demolished, and Stand B is now part of history. All demolition activities are conducted under strict control, utilizing specialized equipment and without human involvement. It is imperative that construction waste is not mixed during the process.
