BIM Model и Digital Twin

17/03/2021

“When our team started this project we were handed a big number of old paper drawings, datasheets, and outdated CAD files. Following our workflow, we did a site-survey, #SCANTOBIM, data-collection, #3Dmodelling, data-integration and by enriching the 3D model with full information on building, facilities, equipment, structures, textures, materials, and all else, we managed to build a real digital replica of the facility.

Our aim was to have the exact, Data-Rich, #AsBuilt3DModel, to be used as a reliable database of the future #DigitalTwin of the facility and we are proud that we did it”. We had to digitalize thousands of elements having in mind the big picture. Integrating different software and applications to solve the big puzzle, to finally have a clear and manageable picture of the facility for future maintenance and expansion.”

In this #ARCHTECH video our #BIM Team members - arch. Danail Momchilov and Radi Karmazov, tell us briefly a case study, on building a data-rich #3D model of existing facilities and integrating all database information for every element and equipment into the facility.

The Digital Twin is applicable and very useful for factories, shopping centers, office buildings, and hospitals. We can use the accumulated historical information, from sensors on-site, for statistical samples, and based on the database accumulated over time, we can set different machine learning algorithms or data analyses that can process the information accumulated over time and predict possible future failures of the equipment, so avoiding long downtimes.

It is the best solution if you are an owner of a building or a technical manager of an industrial facility and you are looking for ways to:
•            reduce operational expenses;
•            optimize building or a facility’s performance;
•            plan an expansion;
•            optimize management costs and environmental footprint;
•            have a real visual replica of your facilities in order to monitor, maintenance, manage and optimize.

The role of the #architect in the Digital Twin is fundamental. We have to see the future and care for all details of who and how will benefit from the facility. We have to be future-ready for the digital life of our buildings.
