On October 31, 2026, Bulgarian Army Stadium officially reopened following its comprehensive reconstruction. The first match between CSKA Sofia and Slavia Sofia marked the return of football to its historic home in Borisova Garden, a place connected to generations of athletes and supporters.
Reconstructed to an architectural design by IPA - Architecture and more, the stadium retains its historic location while offering a contemporary football environment with covered stands, a closer connection between spectators and the pitch, and a new functional layout. The facade envelope, with its earthy tones, responds to the natural setting of Borisova Garden, while new landscaped areas, pedestrian pathways, and publicly accessible spaces strengthen the relationship between the stadium and the surrounding park.
For our team, the reopening was an incredibly moving moment. After more than three years of work on the project, we finally saw the stadium as it was meant to be: football on the pitch, packed stands, and the atmosphere that generations of supporters associate with this place.
The story of Bulgarian Army Stadium continues. In the same place, with new architecture.
