About the project

IPA – Architecture and more infused equal measures of elegance and practicality into the logistics base of SYNTHESIA, an established distributor of raw materials and consumables for the printing industry and a long-standing partner of leading international manufacturers.

In designing SYNTHESIA’s central base, our team responded to the site’s specific characteristics, which required non-standard solutions. The road infrastructure and loading–unloading ramps were developed following targeted research and a series of computer simulations exploring various traffic-flow scenarios. We positioned the ramps at a 45-degree angle to the building facade, achieving maximum efficiency and safety in truck movement, manoeuvring and parking.

The central base comprises administrative areas, storage facilities and logistics premises. The spacious offices and conference rooms are located on the top floor, serving an additional representational role through their position along the facade - welcoming visitors to the building. The interior of the administrative volume stands out with a distinct character achieved through the contrast of dark and light tones, softened by natural light, wooden panels, concrete elements and planters with greenery.

Two of the four warehouses are equipped with high-bay storage systems, while the logistics areas are tailored to the company’s operational specifics.

For the facade, we selected the QBISS ONE smooth panel system - still uncommon in similar projects in Bulgaria. The combination of these panels with the finer grid of large-format anthracite cladding proves as successful as the classic pairing of dark and light colours chosen for the exterior. As a refined accessory, elements in SYNTHESIA’s corporate blue, along with the company emblem, accentuate the facade. A rooftop photovoltaic installation has also been designed to support the building’s energy needs.

The multifunctional central base for SYNTHESIA, designed by IPA – Architecture and more with equal parts beauty and practicality, was awarded First Prize in the national “Building of the Year 2020” competition in the category “Logistics Buildings”.
