Silver Star in Sofia is a commercial and service complex for Mercedes-Benz, completed in 2023 and designed by IPA - Architecture and more. With a gross floor area of 12,714 sq m, the complex consists of four buildings that integrate representative, service, administrative, and logistics functions. The project forms part of the IPA - Architecture and more portfolio of commercial buildings.
As part of the architectural design, the different functions are organized into clearly defined customer, service, and support zones. The showroom forms the main architectural focus and the representative frontage of the complex. Three of its facades feature extensive glazing, allowing the vehicles to remain visible from the exterior and creating a visual connection between the interior and visitor areas.
The architectural expression is based on clean lines and a contrasting black-and-white palette aligned with the corporate identity of Mercedes-Benz. Large glazed surfaces emphasize the transparency of the showroom, while the brand's emblem is integrated into the main facade as part of the overall composition. The projecting entrance clearly defines the point of access and organizes the transition between the exterior and the display area.
The service component is developed as an independent functional system and connects the project with the IPA - Architecture and more portfolio of industrial buildings. It includes an auto detailing center, service areas for passenger cars, trucks, and buses, a body paint facility, spare-parts storage and sales areas, a training center, and a car wash. Their arrangement follows the technological sequence of the work processes, accommodates access for different types of vehicles, and maintains clear separation between customer and service flows.
A dedicated reception and waiting area is provided for service customers and is functionally connected to the workshop spaces. Within the enclosed service lobby, vehicles can undergo an initial inspection and assessment before being directed to the appropriate service area.
The employee environment is also integrated into the overall functional program. Changing rooms, a canteen, dining space, meeting areas, operational workspaces, and rest areas are located above the service facility. A movable partition allows part of these spaces to be reconfigured according to specific needs and patterns of use.
The complex occupies a 65,695 sq m site in the Kremikovtsi industrial area of Sofia and is Silver Star's fourth facility in Bulgaria, following locations in Varna, Plovdiv, and Burgas. The external layout includes 198 car parking spaces and 59 bicycle parking spaces. The project combines Mercedes-Benz corporate standards
