The IPA - Architecture and more team approaches projects that include an interior design scope with particular interest, as they provide an opportunity to develop the architectural idea through to the organization and character of the interior spaces. The ORBICO project forms part of the studio's portfolio of interior design projects.
This is the case with the logistics and office building developed for ORBICO, part of ORBICO GROUP, one of Europe's leading distributors. Following the completion of the logistics and administrative facility, IPA continued its work with the interior design. The central design principle was that the character of the furniture and each space should respond directly to its function and the way employees use it.
The interior continues the overall concept established through the building's architectural design. Clean forms, exposed concrete, and perforated metal establish a distinctly professional tone in the lobby, softened by natural oak elements, contemporary furniture with a futuristic character, and built-in planters with natural greenery.
ORBICO's corporate colors, white and red, appear throughout the interior. In some areas they form strong visual accents, while elsewhere they are introduced as more restrained details, creating continuity between the different spaces and the company's identity.
The professional character of the workplace is most clearly expressed in the meeting room. Clean white worktables and black chairs allow the space to accommodate different configurations. The walls and ceiling follow the classic black-and-white combination, enriched by a mural of Saint Sofia that evokes the art of the Italian masters while using a visual language closer to contemporary graffiti.
Murals continue throughout the other spaces with a freer and more youthful character. They gradually shift the atmosphere from professional in the meeting areas, to creative in the offices, and more relaxed in the dining and lounge zones. In several locations, the graffiti take the form of motivational messages.
The office areas include comfortable workstations positioned close to the large windows and natural light. Soft seating and booth-like areas provide settings for both more focused individual work and informal conversations or idea sharing among team members. Tall storage units combine open shelving with closed compartments for work documents and personal belongings.
The dining and lounge areas receive abundant natural light and include comfortable chairs and upholstered furniture in fresh colors, varied shapes, and different heights. Their more informal character introduces a sense of home-like comfort and clearly distinguishes them from the primary workspaces.
Through this approach, IPA - Architecture and more created an environment for ORBICO employees that is both stimulating and calm. The interior balances the professional character of the workplace with more relaxed settings for communication, rest, and creativity. To preserve the playful metaphor of the original concept, the office interior is “like a pair of home slippers for professionalism”: it brings comfort and a slightly relaxed character without diminishing the seriousness of the work, while adding inspiration and a stronger sense of belonging to the company and the team.
