Wirtgen Bulgaria, part of the international Wirtgen Group, chose IPA - Architecture and more to design its new service and trade facility in Krivina village, near Sofia.
The Wirtgen Group is a global leader in road construction technologies, uniting four renowned brands that specialize in road-building machinery, as well as equipment for mineral extraction and processing. In Bulgaria, the company provides machinery sales, maintenance, and repair services.
The new complex features both commercial and service functions, composed of two adjoining volumes. The lower section accommodates the administrative area, while the higher section houses the warehouse and repair zones.
The two-storey administrative wing includes modern offices, meeting rooms, and training halls, providing optimal working conditions for the company’s sales, management, and marketing teams.
The warehouse area is designed to store spare parts and essential components required for the service operations. A key feature of the service center is a 20-ton overhead crane, ensuring efficient handling and maintenance of heavy machinery. In addition to standard installations for water, heating, and electricity, the facility also integrates compressed air lines used in repair activities.
The building’s facade is clad in aluminum composite panels in the company’s signature colors. Finding the exact shades proved a challenge for the team at IPA - Architecture and more, as the tones were specific and not easily available on the local market. Ultimately, the official Wirtgen color palette - light and dark grey tones - was successfully implemented throughout both the exterior and interior design.
The building’s final look achieves a balance between professional precision and visual friendliness, combining the gradient of the facade colors with refined architectural details. Distinctive elements such as the modernist rail canopy above the main entrance, the use of glass doors and stairwell glazing on the second level, create openness and a welcoming character.
In front of the building, IPA - Architecture and more designed a dedicated area for the display of Wirtgen machinery, alongside convenient access routes for servicing and logistics operations.
