IPA Wins Seven Building of the Year 2024 Awards

Seven projects by IPA - Architecture and more received distinctions at Bulgaria’s national Building of the Year 2024 competition.

The awards were presented on December 17 during an official ceremony at Sofia Event Center. The recognized projects span residential, logistics, retail, hospitality, and green building categories, reflecting the multidisciplinary scope of IPA’s architectural and engineering work.

Here are the award-winning projects:

Fantastico Logistics Center, Elin Pelin

First Prize | Logistics Buildings

The expansion of Fantastico’s logistics center near Elin Pelin includes more than 16,000 sq m of built-up area and new storage facilities for products with different temperature requirements. Six temperature-controlled zones operate between +12°C and -24°C.

Boyana Senses

First Prize | Residential Buildings from 2,000 to 5,000 sq m

Boyana Senses is a boutique residential complex at the foot of Vitosha Mountain, combining minimalist architecture with a direct relationship to the surrounding landscape. The development includes 27 apartments with different sizes and layouts.

Vidin Plaza

Retail Park Award | Commercial Buildings and Retail Parks

Vidin Plaza is the first retail park in Vidin and a major addition to the commercial infrastructure of Northwestern Bulgaria. The development covers 46,950 sq m, including 16,080 sq m of retail and warehouse space.

Hilton Sofia

Urban Hotel Award | Hotels and Hotel Infrastructure

The extensive renovation of Hilton Sofia included the reconfiguration of the building volumes, the renewal of interior spaces, and improvements to the surrounding park environment. The project emphasizes functionality, efficiency, and the sustainable transformation of an existing building.

CTPark Sofia West

Green Logistics Building Award | Green Buildings

Sow2, the second warehouse building at CTPark Sofia West, was designed for efficiency and adaptability. The building has a clear height of 12 m, a floor load capacity of 5 tons, and a structural grid of 12 × 24 m.

BG Line

Special Award | Logistics Buildings

The BG Line logistics base integrates warehouse and administrative functions within a coordinated facility. The design includes underground parking beneath the warehouse and flexible areas that can operate independently or be leased to external companies.

1HOME

Functional Concept Award | Residential Buildings over 20,000 sq m

1HOME occupies a site of more than 7,500 sq m, with approximately 25% of the land built upon. The remaining area is organized as an internal landscaped park with gardens and pedestrian paths. The development consists of five residential sections with separate entrances.
