A1 Motor Park in Samokov is a completed project for a modern racing circuit and sports infrastructure designed for car and motorcycle racing, training, testing and events. The facility places Bulgaria on the map of international motorsport and positions Samokov as a new destination for national, regional and international competitions.
The project was completed in approximately eight months, an exceptionally short timeframe for a sports facility of this scale. Bulgarian specialists and international consultants took part in its development. A1 Motor Park is a large-scale infrastructure project with private investment supported by GBS Energy Solutions. The design process is the result of international collaboration between experts in motorsport and architecture. The track was developed by Driven, leading specialists in racing circuit design, while the architectural design was carried out by IPA - Architecture and more.
The racing circuit has been built in accordance with high international standards for car and motorcycle racing. The track has been inspected by representatives of FIA and FIM, and according to the expert assessment, it meets the requirements for Formula 1 car testing. This makes A1 Motor Park one of the most significant motorsport facilities in Bulgaria and the region.
The A1 Motor Park track is 4 km long, with 15 corners and a straight section of more than 900 m, allowing speeds of over 280 km/h. The circuit offers 21 different configurations, enabling adaptation to various formats of competitions, training sessions, tests and educational programs. Its layout combines fast straights, technical turns and elevation changes, creating a dynamic environment for professional drivers and motorsport enthusiasts.
The facility has been built with special racing asphalt based on a mix developed with the support of Italian experts. A key part of the engineering design includes modern drainage systems, safety zones and protective barriers that meet the requirements of international federations. These solutions provide a high level of safety, durability and functionality for car and motorcycle events.
A1 Motor Park has a capacity of 30,000 spectators and includes the main functional zones required for competitions and events: pit lane, garages, team service areas, race control rooms, medical center, control system, VIP zone, restaurant, café, shop, spectator areas and supporting infrastructure. This structure turns the complex into a complete public facility combining sports functions, spectator zones, technical areas and service spaces.
The main focus of A1 Motor Park is to create a professional environment for the development of Bulgarian car and motorcycle racers. The new circuit provides conditions for training, competitions, testing and education in Bulgaria, reducing the need for drivers, riders and teams to seek suitable infrastructure abroad.
Located 12 km from Borovets and approximately one hour from Sofia and Blagoevgrad, A1 Motor Park is easily accessible for spectators, competitors and organizers from across Bulgaria and the region. The location combines good transport connectivity, proximity to an established tourist destination and potential for the development of sports, event and automotive tourism.
